Scott-Bathgate Ltd. has proudly operated in western Canada since 1903, first as an importer and manufacturers’ agent, and later expanding to include manufacturing and distribution. The “NUTTY CLUB” brand has been synonymous with quality confectionary and specialty grocery products for decades.
Unfortunately, the competitive environment has evolved to the point where the company can no longer sustainably operate the business without significant investments to increase its scale and scope, to compete with national distributors. As a result, the company’s shareholders have made the extremely difficult decision to wind down the operations of the company in an orderly and controlled manner, with the cessation of regular business operations scheduled for late January 2024.
The company intends to work through its inventory to fill as many customer orders as possible over the coming weeks. Employees have been provided with a combination of working notice and offers of severance based on their years of service as part of the transition, and vendors are in the process of being notified.
James Burt, President of Scott-Bathgate Ltd. commented “On behalf of our family, I want to thank each and every one of our employees, customers and suppliers for all of the loyalty, trust and support you have shown our company over the years.”
